Robinson 16″ Clear Barrel Butterfly Valve Crude Oil Sample Thief. The Oil thief is the most sought after tool use in a crude oil tank truck kit. The Oil Thief sampler can be use to take a sample at any level in the storage tank. You can even use the sampler to test the API Gravity right inside the barrel on top of the tank. You can easily see the water separation level through the clear barrel and use the installed drain valves to bleed off the water or fill a sample container from the drain valve to use in your Centrifuge Tubes to test the BS&W content. We also carry the Oil Thief Sample Rope or Thief Rope used to lower the sampler into the tank. Made from 100% Cotton with a solid brass trigger snap used to attach to the sampler. We offer different barrel types and sizes like the 16″ Aluminum Oil Thief Sampler or 12″ Brass Oil Thief Sampler.
Bacon Bomb Samplers are used to take samples of tank bottoms. It was intended to take a sample of the water bottom in crude oil storage tanks after the off loading of oil tankers into the refinery. The water sample could then be tested for salt content or Sodium Chloride. The salt content is very important in crude oil, it can cause all types of issues in the refining process, like corrosion, and it will deactivate catalyst like Zeolite widely used today in refining. Now days Bacon Bomb Samplers are used for all types of product and tank sampling. It is widely use in Heating Oil Tank Sampling and Diesel Oil Tank Sampling. These are the smaller tank kept at distribution centers where they are taking samples and testing if there is any deterioration in the product before it is delivered to the end user or put into service in their trucks. Diesel Fuel can and will actually grow a bacteria. Because the sulfur content has been stripped from refined diesel fuel, this bacteria only needs a little water to start growing. Tanks that sit with no use for extended periods of time can accumulate small amounts of water from condensate. This is more than enough for the bacteria to start growing. There are companies available that offer a treatment for the bacteria growth. We stock several sizes and styles, 4oz Brass Bacon Bomb Sampler, 16oz Brass Bacon Bomb Sampler and the 32oz Bacon Bomb Sampler. We also have Stainless Steel Bacon Bomb Samplers for sampling corrosive or acid products.
