How to replace a refill tape onto your existing Tape Frame

Tape Replacement 1

Lay the tape onto a flat surface with the handle still attached

Start by removing the “Crank” off the frame by turning it counterclockwise

BE SURE TO KEEP A FIRM GRIP ON THE TAPE TO AVOID IT FROM SPRINGING OUT OF THE FRAME

Once the “Crank” is all the way out of the frame, you can set it aside.

MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE TAPE, IT WILL TRY TO UNWIND

Slowly slide the tape and “Drum” out of the frame, continue to maintain control of the tape.

NOTE THE POSITION ON THE PLUMB BOB SNAP. SLIDE THE TAPE DOWNWARDS.

Once the tape is out of the frame, maintain control of the tape while pressing on the “Drum” from the opposite side.

THIS IS A CRITICAL POINT WHERE THE TAPE CAN BIRDNEST!!! THE ONLY THING KEEPING IT TOGETHER IS YOU!

You may need to loosen the pressure on the tape around the “Drum” to get the drum out. Once it is free, set it aside.

MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE TAPE

Secure the used tape with masking tape to keep it together, we typically tape at least 2 spots on opposite side.

Once you have the used tape removed, the replacement tape will go back into the frame in the reverse procedure you just used to remove the used tape.
